In the spring of 2023, a dispute over a dice game in Southeast Baltimore escalated to violence, claiming the life of 17-year-old Anquan Jackson. The shooting occurred on the evening of April 16, unfolding across two locations, the 200 block of Colvin Street and the 200 block of East Street.
Baltimore Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Colvin Street at approximately 8:50 p.m.
There, they discovered Anquan Jackson inside a stolen vehicle, suffering from a critical gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Two other teenagers were also wounded in the incident. A 15-year-old was shot in the buttocks, and an 18-year-old sustained a serious gunshot wound to the chest. Both of these victims walked into an area hospital for treatment.
Just over a week later, on April 25, Anquan Jackson succumbed to his injuries. Following his death, the Baltimore Police Department confirmed that the shooting was being investigated as a homicide. Jackson had been a student at Achievement Academy until December 13, 2022.
As of the latest available information, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or announced any arrests in connection with the death of Anquan Jackson. The investigation into the homicide remains ongoing, and police have asked anyone with information to come forward.
