In the early morning hours of November 7, 2024, a shooting occurred on the southbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway at the Annapolis Road exit. Responding to reports, Baltimore police officers arrived at the scene around 8:41 a.m. to find 22-year-old Isaiah Shackleford inside his gray 2017 Mazda 3, suffering from a severe gunshot wound. The young Black man was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention.
Tragically, five days later, on November 12, 2024, Isaiah Shackleford succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Isaiah, the youngest of eight children, was a resident of the Annapolis area and was on his way home after completing a shift as a DoorDash driver when the incident took place. His family described him as a shy, quiet, and kind-hearted individual who was just beginning to figure out his path in life. In addition to his work with DoorDash, he was also an employee at a Trader Joe's in Towson. Isaiah was a talented, self-taught drummer who had a passion for cars and was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, though his family believes it may have been the result of a road rage incident that escalated during the busy morning rush hour. The other vehicle involved reportedly fled the scene amidst the heavy traffic. Homicide detectives with the Baltimore Police Department have taken over the investigation. They have appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone who was traveling in the area at the time of the shooting and may have witnessed the event to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Authorities have released photos of Isaiah's vehicle in the hopes that other drivers may recall seeing something that could help identify the suspect or suspects.
As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting of Isaiah Shackleford, and the investigation remains ongoing. His family continues to plead for justice and for any witnesses to contact the authorities to help bring his killer to justice.
