On August 31, 2023, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Prince George's County Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of Tall Timber Court in Fort Washington, Maryland. Upon arrival, they encountered 62-year-old Michael Kevin Burch, who refused to exit his residence, leading to a barricade situation. After several hours of unsuccessful negotiation attempts, the Emergency Services Team entered the home around 10:45 p.m. and apprehended Burch without incident.
