In the early hours of a Monday morning, the quiet of a Fort Washington, Maryland neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On April 25, 2011, at approximately 1:02 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Cady Drive. Upon their arrival, they discovered 28-year-old James Anthony Jackson Jr. lying on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound.

His family described him as 'book smart' and someone who loved to be around his family and friends, always making the best of every occasion.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately began an investigation into the shooting.
