In the early morning hours of May 15, 2024, the body of 19-year-old David Frye of Washington, D.C. was discovered in a park in Fort Washington, Maryland. The male victim was found by authorities around 6:40 a.m. in the 11900 block of Autumnwood Lane, near Tantallon Park, suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit promptly launched an investigation into what they classified as a homicide.
Their efforts led them to identify a suspect in the fatal shooting. Investigators determined that Frye was acquainted with the individual believed to be responsible for his death.
Authorities arrested 45-year-old Monte Brown Jr., also of Washington, D.C., in connection with the murder of David Frye. Brown has been charged with first and second-degree murder, along with related charges. Following his arrest, he was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections and held on a no-bond status. While an arrest has been made, the motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation by detectives.
