On a summer evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of Jennifer Parr, a 37-year-old Hispanic woman, was brought to a violent end. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 25, 2024, when police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the area of S. 24th Street and W. Greenfield Avenue. Officers arrived to find Jennifer in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An autopsy later determined she had been shot in both the head and the leg.
Witnesses provided harrowing accounts of Jennifer’s final moments. Several people reported hearing yelling and the sound of gunshots. One witness told authorities they saw a man armed with a gun chasing Jennifer. Another overheard her desperately pleading for her life just before the fatal shots were fired. The investigation suggested that the attacker first shot Jennifer in the leg, and when she attempted to flee, he shot her in the head.
Police took a 44-year-old suspect into custody at the scene. He was identified as Robert J. McKnight, who was reportedly Jennifer's boyfriend. According to the criminal complaint, a deputy arriving at the scene observed a man matching the shooter’s description—wearing red pants—in the same parking lot. The man, later identified as McKnight, was lying on his back and pointing a handgun at his own head. He was arrested without further incident.
McKnight was charged with first-degree intentional homicide in connection with Jennifer’s death. He was subsequently convicted of the charge. For the murder of Jennifer Parr, Robert J. McKnight, then 46, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
