In April of 2018, the life of a young Hispanic mother of two named Jessica I. Rodriguez was tragically cut short in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 23-year-old female, originally from Carolina, Puerto Rico, was found deceased on April 16th in an alley near the 1200 block of W. Burnham St. A passerby made the grim discovery of her body wrapped inside a rolled-up air mattress and secured with an extension cord.
The subsequent investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department revealed a harrowing
story. The Medical Examiner determined that Rodriguez had died from gunshot wounds to her chest and knee. Her death was ruled a homicide, prompting an intensive search for the person responsible.
Witnesses eventually led police to identify a suspect, 40-year-old Donte Harris. According to a witness account, Rodriguez, who was known by the name "Princess" or "Precious," was with Harris in a house near where her body was later found. An argument erupted between the two, reportedly over Rodriguez not picking up her clothes or leaving the house. The witness stated that during the confrontation, Harris shot Rodriguez multiple times.
Following the investigation, Donte Harris was arrested and charged with first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the shooting death of Jessica Rodriguez. He also faced a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. A judge set a cash bond of $100,000 for Harris pending further legal proceedings.
