In the early morning hours of May 2, 2021, the life of 19-year-old Kalysta L. Baker, a White female, was tragically cut short on a street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was found deceased in the street near 92nd and Sheridan with gunshot wounds to her head and stomach. Kalysta, a recent graduate of Sheboygan North High School, was remembered by friends and family as a great listener who was always there for those she cared about.
The investigation into her death revealed a chilling story
of a planned robbery that turned fatal. Authorities discovered that Kalysta had been communicating with Quenterrius Hamilton, who was 16 years old at the time, about selling him Xanax. However, Hamilton later admitted to police that he and a 15-year-old accomplice, Jacob Howard, never intended to buy the drugs but planned to rob her instead. Surveillance footage from around 4:50 a.m. captured someone getting out of a car at the location, approaching Kalysta, and her falling to the ground. Investigators found no pills on her body.
The case took another dark turn when, about 30 minutes after Kalysta was killed, Hamilton's accomplice, Jacob Howard, was also found shot to death in an alley. Investigators were able to connect Hamilton to both crime scenes through his cellphone data. The weapon used in both shootings was believed to be an AR-15 rifle that Howard had reportedly stolen from his brother.
Quenterrius Hamilton was subsequently arrested and charged as an adult for his involvement in the deaths of both Kalysta Baker and Jacob Howard. In February 2025, a jury found Hamilton guilty of multiple charges, including felony murder, two counts of first-degree reckless homicide, and armed robbery. In March 2025, he was sentenced to 95 years in prison for his role in the violent events of that May morning.
