On the night of July 4, 2021, a Black/African American teenage girl’s life was tragically cut short in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Narianna Nichole Staten, an 18-year-old female, was shot and killed near 26th and Burleigh around 11:35 p.m.. When first responders arrived, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family remembers her as a young woman with an "amazing smile and love for others," whose light "never dimmed" despite any hardships she faced.
