In the early morning hours of September 7, 2023, the life of 16-year-old Coriyon Cori DaLynn Brown was tragically cut short in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The young man, a resident of Muskogee, was discovered on Hayes Street with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest. His death marked the second homicide in the city within a four-hour span, initially leaving investigators to determine if the two events were connected.
Coriyon, a male, was known as a dedicated wrestler and football player who had competed in tournaments across the country.
The investigation into Coriyon's death led to the identification and arrest of two suspects. On October 27, 2023, Cherokee Nation Marshals took 21-year-old Allan Hill into custody. According to investigators, a witness identified Hill as the individual who shot Coriyon. Further evidence from video footage placed the witness, Hill, and Coriyon together in the hours leading up to the fatal shooting. Due to Hill's Native American status, his case is being handled in federal court.
A second suspect, Terance Renfro, was also arrested in connection with the murder. The investigation revealed that the firearms used in the commission of the crime belonged to Renfro, and evidence confirmed that both weapons were discharged at the scene. On October 25, 2024, a Muskogee County jury found Terance Renfro guilty of Coriyon's murder. The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, with his formal sentencing scheduled for January 2025.
