In the early morning hours of May 19, 2016, 44-year-old Dana Hamilton was walking down the 800 block of Southern Avenue in Southeast, D.C., when he was fatally shot. Police responded to reports of a shooting around 2:41 a.m. and found Hamilton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
