On a summer evening in Spencer, Oklahoma, the life of 49-year-old Sherratt Johnson, a Black male, was tragically cut short. The events unfolded on August 9, 2024, at the Fred Factory Garden Apartments, a community also known as the Dunjee Apartments, situated near Northeast 36th Street and N Hiwassee Road. It was around 7:25 p.m. when the sound of gunfire shattered the evening calm, prompting calls to the authorities.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a chaotic situation stemming from a dispute that had escalated to violence. Three individuals had been shot during the altercation. Sherratt Johnson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the location. Another person was wounded and subsequently transported to a local hospital with expectations of recovery. The third individual shot was the alleged perpetrator.
Law enforcement officers quickly located and apprehended a suspect who was reportedly walking away from the apartment complex. The man taken into custody was identified as 36-year-old Devontia Marshawn Robinson. Further investigation into Robinson's background revealed that he is a convicted felon.
