In the early morning hours of May 21, 2020, in Spencer, Oklahoma, a quiet residential street became the scene of a brutal crime that claimed the lives of two individuals. Dominique Knight, a 27-year-old male, and Madison Carter, 30, were discovered fatally shot inside a parked vehicle on Justin Place. The grim discovery was made around 7 a.m. by a neighbor who noticed the passenger door of the car was ajar and a window had been shattered.
Upon investigation, law enforcement determined
that the two had been ambushed sometime around 2:15 a.m. An unknown assailant reportedly approached the driver's side of the vehicle and opened fire, striking Carter, who was in the driver's seat, multiple times. Knight, seated in the passenger seat, attempted to escape the vehicle but was also shot multiple times before collapsing on the front lawn of the residence.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office launched a homicide investigation, collecting evidence and seeking leads from the community. Surveillance footage from the area revealed two vehicles of interest, described as a dark-colored Chevy Cruz or Impala, entering and leaving the neighborhood around the time of the shooting with its headlights off. Investigators publicly released images of the vehicles in the hopes that someone would come forward with information about the occupants.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement and a plea for public assistance, the case has grown cold. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the double homicide, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The motive for the shooting remains unclear. In the years following the deaths of Dominique Knight and Madison Carter, Carter's family has been vocal in their quest for justice, offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the killings.
