In the early morning hours of May 21, 2020, in Spencer, Oklahoma, 30-year-old Madison Carter was fatally shot while sitting in a parked vehicle. The male victim was in the driver's seat of a car outside a residence on Justin Place when the tranquil night was shattered by gunfire around 2:15 a.m. Alongside him, another individual, Dominique Knight, age 27, was also killed in the attack.
The grim discovery was not made until approximately 7 a.m.
when a neighbor noticed the passenger door of the car agape and a window shattered. Upon approaching the vehicle, the neighbor found Carter deceased inside and Knight lying on the front lawn, having also succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. It is believed that an unknown assailant approached the driver's side of the car and opened fire, striking both occupants. Knight appeared to have been shot as he attempted to flee the passenger side of the vehicle.
In the wake of the double homicide, the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation. Surveillance footage from the neighborhood revealed a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Chevy Cruz or Impala, entering and leaving the area with its headlights off shortly after the shooting. Despite this lead and numerous others over the years, the case has grown cold. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified, leaving the families of both victims without answers or closure.
