On January 25, 2023, at approximately 10:19 p.m., Toledo Police responded to a shooting incident in the 3200 block of Downing Avenue, located in South Toledo. Upon arrival, officers discovered 16-year-old Anthony Terrelle "Ant" Krug-Overton inside a residence, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anthony was a 10th-grade student at Rogers High School.
In response to his untimely death, the school provided additional counselors to support grieving students and staff. His passing marked the fourth homicide in Toledo for the year 2023 and the third involving a teenage victim within that period, highlighting a concerning trend of youth violence in the city.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Anthony's death. The Toledo Police Department continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to come forward.
