Royce Gilbert, a 19-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, tragically died on March 6, 2024, following a shooting incident in the South Linden area. The shooting occurred around noon in the 1100 block of East 18th Avenue. Emergency responders transported Gilbert to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:51 PM, just 40 minutes after the incident. He had sustained critical injuries from the gunfire and was unable to survive despite receiving immediate medical attention.
