In the summer of 2024, a promising life was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. Efrain Guevara, a 20-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting on the night of July 13th. The incident unfolded at a house party in the eastern valley, near the intersection of Owens Avenue and Mohave Road. Guevara, along with other guests, was outside the residence when a vehicle approached and unleashed a barrage of gunfire.
The party's host frequently used social media to
invite guests to gatherings. On this particular night, a group of males were denied entry because they were not recognized by the host. Shortly after this encounter, a white sedan passed by the house, and an occupant from the passenger side began shooting into the crowd of partygoers. Efrain Guevara was struck in the torso and rushed to a local hospital. Despite undergoing surgery, he succumbed to his injuries. Another young man, 18-year-old Erik Roque, was also killed at the scene, having been shot in the face. Several other individuals sustained injuries but survived the attack.
In the wake of the shooting, investigators from the Metropolitan Police Department launched a thorough investigation. By examining surveillance footage and social media posts, detectives were able to identify potential suspects. On August 8, 2024, their efforts led to the arrest of two 16-year-old males, Jesus Martin-Guerrero and Noah Sierra, in connection with the double homicide. The teenagers are facing a litany of charges, including two counts of murder with a deadly weapon and 22 counts of attempted murder.
Authorities have gathered evidence that allegedly links the two suspects to the crime. A video reportedly shows Sierra driving the vehicle used in the drive-by shooting. Additionally, a social media post made by Martin-Guerrero featuring a specific firearm is believed to match the shell casings recovered from the crime scene. Both Martin-Guerrero and Sierra have pleaded not guilty to the 42 charges they face. Their trial is anticipated to commence in the summer of 2025.
