On a summer evening in Las Vegas on August 17, 2021, a violent encounter on a pedestrian bridge cut short the life of 22-year-old Juan Llamas. That day, a group of teenagers had gathered near Douglas A. Selby Park to drink beer. An altercation broke out between the teens and Llamas, who was believed to be homeless. The initial fight escalated, and as Llamas attempted to get away, he was chased by the group onto the pedestrian bridge that connects to the park.
