On what was meant to be a weekend of celebration, Gina Martin, a 36-year-old Black woman, returned to her hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, a place she had once called home before relocating to Colorado. She was just days away from her 37th birthday and had planned a pool party to mark the occasion with friends and family. However, this joyous return would soon turn into a tragedy that would cut her life short.
