On September 3, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., St. Paul police responded to multiple reports of gunshots near the intersection of Sherburne Avenue and Mackubin Street in the Frogtown neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Devante Victor Jones of Mankato, Minnesota, lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
