On the evening of March 14, 2023, Topeka police responded to a reported hit-and-run incident in the 1300 block of Southeast 8th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 19-year-old Khristopher A.L. Brown suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
