In the early hours of a Saturday in Topeka, Kansas, the life of 29-year-old Chavis Collins, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. Just after 1:00 a.m. on February 8, 2025, police were called to a local hospital where Collins had been brought with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later, marking the city's second homicide in just two days.
