In the late summer of 2000, a quiet home in Topeka, Kansas, became the scene of a brutal crime that would ultimately claim the life of an elderly man. Raymond Aguirre, an 82-year-old Caucasian male, and his 80-year-old wife, Mabel, were inside their residence at 1900 SE Washington on September 19, 2000, when their peace was shattered by an intruder.
