In the early morning hours of December 13, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a north Wichita neighborhood, forever altering the lives of two teenage boys. Hispanic/Latino male Gabriel Aiden Jimenez, a 15-year-old, was walking with a 14-year-old friend near the intersection of 15th Street North and Poplar when an unknown individual opened fire from a nearby backyard.
