On December 13, 2023, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Wichita police responded to a shooting near East 15th Street North and North Poplar Avenue. They found 15-year-old Gabriel Aiden Jimenez with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his upper right leg. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for surgery. Gabriel succumbed to his injuries on December 18, 2023.
