In the quiet, pre-dawn hours of a south Wichita neighborhood, tragedy befell Nestor Jose Rivera, a 29-year-old Hispanic male. On May 11, 2024, at approximately 12:24 a.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the stillness in the 700 block of East 57th Street South. First responders arrived at the scene to find Rivera suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
