On February 15, 2024, Topeka police responded to a shooting in the 2200 block of SW Wilmington Court, where they discovered 25-year-old Katelynn M. Herring and 44-year-old Jason M. Herring, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
