On the evening of November 10, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas, 67-year-old Anthony Stickney, a male, was found deceased in his home from gunshot wounds. The discovery was made by two individuals who arrived at his residence in the 1700 block of S. Santa Fe shortly before 6:00 p.m. and promptly called for help. When Wichita Police and Fire Departments arrived, they pronounced Stickney dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of Anthony Stickney quickly led law enforcement to his son,
42-year-old Joshua Stickney, who was believed to have been the last person at his father's home. Officers then proceeded to Joshua's residence in the 1900 block of S. Laura. Upon arrival, they observed two people inside who were unresponsive. After forcing entry into the home, police discovered the bodies of Joshua Stickney, his 66-year-old friend and neighbor Donald Dodge, and his 55-year-old live-in stepfather, Terry Meyer. All three had been fatally shot.
A firearm was located near Joshua Stickney's body, and his wound appeared to be self-inflicted. The investigation expanded further when officers, while attempting to find someone to care for Joshua's pet, were directed to the home of another neighbor, 39-year-old Alan Young. Inside, they found Young deceased, also from gunshot wounds. Preliminary ballistic analysis indicated that the firearm found with Joshua Stickney was the weapon used in all of the shootings. Investigators believe that Joshua Stickney was the perpetrator of the four homicides before taking his own life. Police have stated that the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence and that there are no outstanding suspects.
