In Wichita, Kansas, a 14-year-old Black/African American male named Emoni Shears lost his life in a fatal shooting on the night of January 26, 2024. He was with a long-time family friend, 19-year-old Jhiquez Roberts, when the incident occurred. Family members stated that Roberts had asked Shears, who had a learner's permit, for a ride.
