On January 26, 2024, 14-year-old E'Moni Shears of Wichita, Kansas, was fatally shot alongside 19-year-old Jhiquez Roberts. The incident occurred around 11:56 p.m. in the 5200 block of East Kensington Street. Both victims managed to drive themselves to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
