On January 1, 2023, 44-year-old Rickey Beans of Wichita, Kansas, was found deceased in a residence on the 5200 block of West 8th Street North. Emergency responders arrived around 4:30 a.m. after a man called 911, believing his friend was dead inside the home. Upon arrival, fire crews discovered Beans' body and pronounced him dead at the scene. Subsequent investigations revealed that Beans had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
