On the evening of November 4, 2015, a 33-year-old Black / African American man named Terrance L. Smith Jr. had just returned to his brother's home in the 800 block of South Broadview in Wichita, Kansas. Smith, who had recently been paroled, had moved to Wichita to live with his brother. After an early dinner with his girlfriend, he was inside the house when a barrage of gunfire erupted outside at approximately 7:15 p.m.
