Stevie Lee Young, a 59-year-old Black man from Wichita, Kansas, died after he was shot in downtown Wichita on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Police said the call first came in late that morning as a shooting-with-injuries report in the 400 block of North Market Street. When officers arrived, they found Young inside his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders tried to save him and rushed him to a local hospital in critical condition, but he was later pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m.
