On January 22, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in Lafayette, Louisiana, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Zaveon Willis. The incident took place in the 100 block of Railroad Street, where Lafayette Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting just before noon. Upon arrival, they found Zaveon Willis with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was declared dead at the scene.
