On a Sunday evening in Alexandria, Louisiana, the life of 32-year-old Christopher Earl Chisem was tragically cut short. On March 26, 2023, law enforcement responded to a shooting incident in the Old Boyce Road area, near Tuma Street, around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Christopher Earl Chisem succumbed to his
injuries and was pronounced dead at Rapides Regional Medical Center. The second victim's condition has not been publicly detailed. The investigation into the fatal shooting quickly pointed towards a suspect.
Detectives with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office identified 33-year-old Arthur Jamal Wallace of Alexandria as the person responsible for the shooting. Investigators located what they believed to be Wallace's vehicle at a residence on Gary Street. A search warrant was executed at the home with the assistance of the RPSO SWAT team, but Wallace was not present. Later that night, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Arthur Jamal Wallace turned himself in to deputies at the main office of the Sheriff's Office.
Following his surrender, Wallace was arrested without incident. He faces serious charges, including one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. A judge set his bond at $1.5 million. Wallace was subsequently booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
