On a Sunday morning in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the body of a 52-year-old Black male, Tyrone Davis Jr., was discovered, marking another tragic loss to gun violence. It was shortly after 8 a.m. on May 21, 2023, when law enforcement responded to a call near the corner of Tuscarora Street and Weller Avenue. Upon their arrival, they found Davis with multiple gunshot wounds.
The Baton Rouge Police Department's homicide detectives immediately began their investigation into the shooting death of
Davis, whose last known address was on Tuscarora Street. At the outset of the investigation, authorities announced that both the motive for the shooting and any potential suspects were unknown.
