A verbal altercation escalated into a fatal shooting outside the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, resulting in the death of 40-year-old Dominic Montgomery York. The incident, which has been classified as a murder-suicide, also involved 46-year-old Almutakabbir Sims.
The events unfolded on an evening near the intersection of Sally Ride Drive and Veterans Memorial Boulevard. According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, a heated argument between York and Sims preceded the violence.
At the culmination of their dispute, Sims fatally shot York.
Immediately following the shooting of York, Sims turned the gun on himself, resulting in his own death at the scene. Law enforcement officials have indicated that they are not searching for any other individuals in connection with the shootings and that the investigation is ongoing. Both men were pronounced dead at the location of the incident.
