In a tragic end to a nearly two-year battle for his life, 27-year-old Jonathan Price of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, succumbed to medical complications on October 8, 2019. His death was the direct result of a drive-by shooting that occurred in July 2017, an event that drastically altered the course of his life. Price, who was standing in front of his home on Flora Lane at the time, was struck by gunfire in an act of violence that would ultimately prove fatal.
Price was remembered as a
kind-hearted and hardworking individual with a passion for music. He was a graduate of the Louisiana National Guard YCP in 2008 and had pursued higher education to become a plant operator. Those who knew him described him as a man who loved to make people laugh and who had a deep faith. The 2017 shooting became a defining moment in his life, one that he faced with a resilience that was an inspiration to his family.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of Charles Hunt in August 2019. Initially, Hunt was charged with attempted second-degree murder for his alleged role in the drive-by shooting. However, following Price's death, the charges against Hunt were upgraded to first-degree murder. He is currently being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
