In the pre-dawn hours of a Saturday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the life of 37-year-old Ryan Kirby Marlow was brought to a violent end. On March 19, 2022, at approximately 3:55 a.m., residents of the area near the intersection of Cedarlane Avenue and Silverest Avenue were disturbed by the sound of gunfire. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the male victim lying in the roadway of the very street he called home.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed towards a planned meeting that turned fatal. According to a witness, Marlow had arranged to meet with 32-year-old Bobby Earl to exchange a car title at Marlow's home. Earl reportedly arrived at the intersection and waited in his vehicle. Marlow then drove to meet him and approached Earl's vehicle on foot. A brief verbal altercation erupted between the two men, shattering the early morning quiet. It was then that Earl allegedly fired multiple shots at Marlow, leaving him fatally wounded in the street as he fled the scene.
Nearly a week after the deadly encounter, law enforcement located and apprehended the suspect. On the following Friday, Baton Rouge Police Detectives, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, arrested Bobby Earl for his alleged involvement in Marlow's death. Earl was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faces charges of Second Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon or Dangerous Instrumentalities for the shooting that cut short the life of Ryan Kirby Marlow.
