In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a tragic incident cut short the life of 14-year-old Tyree Fleming, a male, on February 3, 2018. The circumstances surrounding his death were deemed an accident by law enforcement, a devastating event that unfolded when a friend was handling a firearm.
The Baton Rouge Police Department identified 17-year-old Arnold Smith as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting.
According to investigators, Smith was playing with a gun when it unintentionally discharged, striking and killing Fleming. The incident led to a search for Smith, who was wanted in connection with the death of the teenager.
Following the issuance of a warrant, Arnold Smith turned himself into the authorities. He was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The charge brought against him was negligent homicide, reflecting the accidental nature of the shooting as determined by the police investigation.
