On the evening of April 7, 2020, a young man's life was cut short in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Joshua Andrews, a 21-year-old male, was discovered in a parking lot on Rosenwald Road at approximately 10:30 p.m., suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The Baton Rouge Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting.
Their efforts, aided by a crucial anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers, led to a swift arrest in the case. The following day, on April 8, 2020, detectives apprehended 18-year-old Leon Frank Harris in connection with the fatal shooting.
Investigators believe that an altercation between Harris and Andrews preceded the deadly gunfire. Harris was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faced charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, with his bond set at $250,000. While an arrest was made, the investigation into the death of Joshua Andrews was reported to be ongoing.
