In the summer of 2013, the life of 16-year-old Cameron Malik Phillips, a male student at Glen Oaks Senior High School, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Cameron was fatally wounded in a shooting. The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. in the 2100 block of Vickers Drive, near Belaire High School.
At the time, this violent act marked the 35th homicide in Baton Rouge that year and was part of a particularly violent week for the
city, being the seventh homicide in just seven days. The Baton Rouge Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting.
