On June 19, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in Lafayette, Louisiana, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including Denzel Smith, who was 21 years old at the time of his death. The incident took place in the 100 block of South Orleans Drive, where Lafayette Police Department officers responded to an active shooting at approximately 9:46 PM.
