On January 12, 2024, a shooting incident occurred in the 300 block of Rials Drive in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Juquan Calais. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m. and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where Juquan Calais succumbed to his injuries. The second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was not named in the reports.
