On Sunday, July 9, 2023, at approximately 11:44 p.m., the Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in progress in the 100 block of Vaucluse Drive in Lafayette, Louisiana. Upon arrival, officers found an 18-year-old male, identified as Joshua Cobb of Abbeville, Louisiana, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite immediate response, Cobb was determined to be deceased at the scene, and a crime scene was established.
