On January 25, 2024, a homicide occurred in Lafayette, Louisiana, resulting in the death of Taj Broussard, a 27-year-old resident of the city. The incident took place in the parking lot of a business located at 1332 Southwest Evangeline Thruway. At approximately 7:41 p.m., Lafayette Police officers responded to reports of shots being fired at the location. Upon arrival, they found Broussard seated inside a vehicle, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
