On August 16, 2023, 53-year-old Michelle Leigh Wells of Shreveport, Louisiana, was fatally shot during a domestic dispute at her residence on Dallas Street. The incident occurred in the city's Valencia subdivision, where witnesses reported seeing her boyfriend, Richard Spencer, leaving the scene after the shooting. Wells was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 5:30 PM.
