In the quiet city of Alexandria, Louisiana, the life of a young man, Shedrick Jordan, a 22-year-old Black male, was abruptly cut short. On the evening of Sunday, October 8, 2023, tragedy struck in the 2500 block of Culpepper Road. Gunfire shattered the night, and Jordan was fatally wounded. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead. The Alexandria Police Department was alerted to the shooting by hospital staff at approximately 8:39 p.m.

The initial days of the investigation yielded critical leads, and the Alexandria Police Department identified two men in connection with the fatal shooting. The first suspect, Mayon Jones Jr., was apprehended in Concordia Parish on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. His arrest was attributed to a strong relationship between law enforcement and the community. Jones faced charges of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. He was subsequently held in the custody of the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office with a bond set at $200,000, along with parole violations.
The search for the second suspect, Troyvonta Green, continued for months. In an effort to bring him to justice, the family of Shedrick Jordan offered a substantial $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. The Alexandria Police Department, along with the United States Marshals Service, pursued leads that eventually led them to Conway, Arkansas. On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the collaborative efforts of these law enforcement agencies resulted in Green's apprehension. He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was booked into the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office. The investigation into the death of Shedrick Jordan remains ongoing as the legal process for both suspects moves forward.
