In the evening hours of November 3, 2023, the life of 26-year-old Black male, Frank Edwards Jr., was tragically cut short in his hometown of Mansfield, Louisiana. Deputies from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Mary Street following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered an unresponsive Frank Edwards Jr. and immediately began rendering aid in an attempt to save his life.
He was rushed to DeSoto Regional Hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced deceased.
The news of his violent death sent ripples of grief and shock through his family and the community. Edwards was a father to four children, and his family remembers him as a young man who was trying to figure out his life. In the months following his death, his family has been vocal in their calls for justice, expressing their heartbreak and frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation. They feel that more could and should be done to find the person or people responsible for his murder. The holiday season following his death was a particularly difficult time for his loved ones, who were left with an empty space where he should have been.
As of early 2024, the investigation into the homicide of Frank Edwards Jr. remains active and ongoing. The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office has stated that they are awaiting the results of forensic evidence which they hope will lead to an arrest. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The Sheriff's Office continues to seek assistance from the public for any information that may be useful to investigators. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers for any tip that leads to the successful identification and arrest of the shooter. The family continues to hold out hope that justice will be served for Frank.
