In the quiet town of Mansfield, Louisiana, a confrontation turned deadly on a Sunday night in February 2017, leaving 50-year-old James Hewitt, a male resident of Many, Louisiana, dead from a gunshot wound. The incident, which unfolded on February 26th, led to the swift arrest of a local homeowner.
Authorities took 34-year-old Cody Carl Parker of Mansfield into custody in connection with the shooting.
An investigation suggested that the fatal encounter occurred as Hewitt was allegedly vandalizing a vehicle belonging to Parker. According to the Mansfield Police Chief at the time, Hewitt was shot in the back with a. 22-caliber rifle as he was running away from Parker's residence.
Following the investigation, Cody Carl Parker was jailed and faced a charge of second-degree murder for his role in the death of James Hewitt.
