In the early afternoon of a Sunday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a neighborhood. On December 3, 2023, Gregory Chaney, a 50-year-old man, was found shot to death outside a residence on Jefferson Avenue, near the intersection with North 24th Street. The call came in to the Baton Rouge Police Department at approximately 12:58 p.m., and upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Chaney suffering from what would be determined to be fatal gunshot wounds.
