In a tragic case of domestic violence in Gonzales, Louisiana, 13-month-old Kaylee Forcell and her 41-year-old mother, Christina Lynn Artus, were found shot to death inside their residence at the Oak Village trailer park on January 14, 2024. The young female child was described as a bright and beautiful little girl with a spunky personality who loved music and dancing.
Authorities from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a homicide at approximately 5:30
p.m. and discovered the bodies of the mother and daughter. Both victims had been shot at close range. Neighbors reported seeing Kaylee's father, 39-year-old Kalvin Forcell of Donaldsonville, fleeing the home on the night of the incident.
Kalvin Forcell was apprehended after he allegedly abandoned his vehicle at a local store and attempted to steal another car. The individual he tried to carjack was able to subdue him until law enforcement arrived. He was subsequently arrested and questioned by investigators.
Following the investigation, Kalvin Forcell was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his daughter and her mother. In addition to the murder charges, he also faces charges of simple burglary of a vehicle, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, theft of a motor vehicle over $25,000, illegal use of weapons, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
